Kilpauk
Kilpauk is a small commercial township located in the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai. The area falls in the western outskirts of the city. The distance from Chennai's city center to Kilpauk is about 6 kms. The region is situated off the Ponamallee High Road in the west. Adjacent suburbs of Kilpauk include Chetpet, Egmore and Purasawalkam.Kilpauk region is provided with a number of commercial establishments. The region provides ample means of accommodation and catering facilities. A good number of deluxe and budget hotels, like Beverly Hotel, Breeze Hotel, etc., are provided in the city suburbs. The Food World is quite popular in the locality. Enterprises dealing with the manufacturing of packaging materials, wood carvings, chemical suppliers, cement exporters and suppliers, have their bases in the locality. The area around is also marked by a number of medical care units. Some of them go by such names as Gremaltes Leprosy Centre, Murali Lakshmi Krishna Hospital, Vira Reddy Hospital, Meenam Hospital, K.S.Hospital, Padma Hospital.The township features some of the leading educational institutes that provide quality education and training. The Kilpauk Medical College, located within the suburbs, is a quite a reputed institute. Many I.T. training schools are located at Kilpauk. Besides being a commercial hub, the region also supports the local population. The place provides some of the best residential appartments in the city. Kilapuk locality is not that far (6 kms approx.) from the city center, that is George Town. The major road links that provide accessibility to the region are Periyar Salai and Tiru Narayana Guru Road. Buses and taxis are popular means for reaching the place.
The nearest railway station for Kilpauk is the one at Chetpet. This railway station lies to the south of Kilpauk and not more than a kilometre away.
