Postal service asks for clear path to mailbox --classifieds

The U.S. Postal Service is asking customers in the wake of Wednesday's winter storm to keep the area around their mailbox clear of snow and ice.

"Winter storms and along with them the cold, snow and icy conditions can make delivery of your mail very challenging for letter carriers and your post office," read a news release from the agency.

USPS reports they will do their best to deliver to all address, but at the same must insure the safety of carriers along their routes. Therefore, residential and business customers are asked to clear their mailbox area of snow, sleet, slush, ice and debris, including clearing nearby sidewalks, steps and porches.

"We’re asking that customers take caution themselves as they clear a path for their letter carrier," the release continued.

Letter carriers are being instructed to not deliver to mailboxes and locations which are too hazardous or unsafe to access.
