Egmore

Egmore is one of the base stations in the city of Chennai. The Egmore region is located close to the city center George Town, less than kilometres from it. The suburbs constitutes one of the popular commercial centres rooted in the city. The Chennai Egmore Railway Station, together with Chennai Central Railway Station are two main entry points in the regions and the epicenters of the vast railway network that connects the city. The regions lying adjacent to the Egmore locality include Nungambakkam, George Town and Triplicane.Egmore locality bears quite an importance following the resources contained within the suburbs. The building of the station has been built in Indo-Sarcenic style, which makes it noteworthy. The name of the person associated with the popularity of the railway station is none other than Robert Chisolm.Egmore region hoses some of the best educational institutes of Chennai, especially women's colleges. Women's Christian College (W.C.C.), Good Shepherd Convent, Ethiraj College for Women are some accredited institutes in the locality. In the vicinity of W.C.C. stands the famous structure of Directorate of Public Instruction.The city suburbs, as has been already mentioned, is a great commercial hub. Hotels, shopping complexes, hospitals and clubs are important establishments that bear the scene of activities.
