Porur

Porur is a small township that lies in the extended region of Chennai city. Porur lies to the west of Chennai central. The place forms a part of the adjoining district of Chennai, which is Tiruvallur. The region is connected to the Chennai city by Arcot Road and Mount Ponamallee Road. Porur lines up the western boundary of Chennai city. The locality is included in the Chennai metropolitan area. Porur is primarily one of the residential areas of Chennai metropolitan area. The region features a number of residential colonies and small localities inhabited by the metropolitan population. These residential localities include Arunachalam Nagar, Ramakrishna Nagar, Kunkumam Nagar, Ganga Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Moorthy Nagar, Kamala Nagar, etc. Unlike Chennai suburbs, the region does not house any popular attraction. There are few known medical institutes in the centre, some schools and local markets that serve these residential colonies. Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute is one of the few reputed establishments located at Porur. The prime medical facility providers include Parvathi Hospital and Lakshmi Nagar Hospital. Accessibility
