Cardinal tetra 
 

Cardinaltetra is a small tetra fish with a iridescent blue line coloration laterally dividing its body with a red color in the bottom. Cardinal tetra is a peaceful schooling fish for planted and community aquariums. To reduce the stress keep them in large heavily planted aquarium. And they should be kept in groups of more than 6 per group. Like other tetra fish Cardinal tetra fish prefer slightly acidic water for optimum health conditions. If the water quality is maintained and treated with live food, they will spawn easily. Most of the time they are confused with its closely related fish – neon tetra. Neon tetra is little hardy when compared to cardinal tetra because most of the cardinal tetra fish are wild caught tetra in amazon basin and not adapted to captive environment.

Care Level	Intermediate. Schooling Fish should be kept in 3 – 10 in numbers. And should be kept in large tanks or with other active tetra fish.
Sexing	Males are slim. Mature healthy females have round belly.
Egg Layers	Yes.
Breeding	Easy, with school of fish with more females . They spawn on the substrate or on spawning mob . They scatter eggs in the bottom and if not separated they will eat their own eggs. Eggs will hatch within 24 – 30 hours.
